First time growing potatoes ( sort of; we grew sweet potatoes one year and they failed)
I’m growing them in grow bags and slowly topped it off with organic pitting mix as it grew.
My question is… how do I know when they’re ready to pull up?
Is it like garlic where when the tops are brown they are ready?
Google produces mixed answers.
Thanks all !

Some folks are know to check them a bit earlier and have new potatoes for supper
Yes, and I am one of those. After you see blooms is a good time to start "robbing" but of course "robbing" extracts a price in your eventual production.

Thank you! One is Yukon gold and the other is red potatoes . Both are small varieties. If these turn out okay next year I’ll try more types :) Thought I’d start with the small easier types first .

Good choices...the red will likely produce more....and personally I love their taste.

HMM I just started growing in Bags I'm surprised how fast they made it to the top.

Once they start blooming I'll think about robbing.

We don't eat many but I'm considering growing year round.

Welcome big rockpile from Lebanon, a great Mo. town. Check out my potato experiment results thread which found the Dark Red Norland as the best producer in containers in my area.
