It's a royal poinciana, 24 years old, and I've never seen it do this before. Hurricane Irma just went through, and I'm afraid it brought something with it that's made my tree sick. This is happening all around the tree. Anyone know what it is?

I just got back home after Irma went thru here and I sustained a lot of wind damage; much more than Matthew. I had many, many downed limbs, very large limbs, one weighing about 500 lbs; luckily none hit the house, only an old rusty fence.

The many of my plants have damage to the leaves as shown in the above photos. My Sweetgum tree looks like it's about to lose all its leaves. My Live Oak has dead/dying leaves on the east side, but the west side seems in better shape.

Judging by the side of the trees where the limbs fell and the direction they fell and the damage to the leaves on the east side of my Live Oak, my conclusion is that we had our strongest winds coming out of the east.

I think very strong, sustained winds kills leaves...I'm not sure how, but I don't believe that the damage I see is from salt; especially since Live Oaks are very tolerant of salt spray.
