Hello, hoping someone can help. I thought this tree was dead so had it cut down, but it is now sprouting new shoots. Can anybody kindly tell me what it is?

Many thanks in advance.

We reckon that's an elder - good for berries and flowers for wine or cordial! It looks really healthy for its hefty haircut. Will you keep it?

Thank you for your response - I've Googled elder and I think it does fit the bill. Now I know what it is and a bit about it, I will keep it.

Thank you for the welcome - I'm a Kent neighbour - Essex.
