Recently bought a property which has a very large overgrown rose bush in the centre of the garden. A bit unsightly at the moment but I have seen it in early summer with an abundance of red roses. My question is can I carry out a hard cutback on it when it goes dormant without damaging it too much? It takes up too much space at the moment but I would if possible like to retain it and make a feature of it. It is currently about 8 feet long, 5 feet wide and 5 feet in height.
