Hi everyone, first time posting, I hope it'll be ok.
When I bought my house I inherited azaleas, and I don't think I'm doing it right.
Here is one of them in the attached picture
The top half is fairly ok, the bottom half is rather bare with a sprinkle of leaves. I gather it's still alive. I need advice on what I should do to care for it properly.
Last year, what I can think of I did wrong is maybe fertilizing: I used the miracle grow "Tree & Shrub fertilizing spike", maybe that burnt the azalea? With the hundreds of fertilizers, I ended up picking one a bit randomly.
I was also a bit late mulching, doing it mid summer (no excuse for that). Also I didn't use pine needle mulch like I read everywhere, I have no idea where to find this type.
The azaleas are all morning sun exposed, in the shade in the afternoon.
Is there any hope? What is the way to make it survive?
