In my home, we have fallen in love with Honeycrisp apples, although the purchase price at the grocery store will drain your bank account very quickly! They are very sweet and juicy and are kind of a cross between a red and green apple. Do any of you have experience growing these? I have heard that they are a hybrid variety, but I have not done much research so far on them.

I love it when HoneyCrisp apples come into season. And you are so right,, the price can really drain your pocket book. But for a treat, they are wonderful. I was surprised and did find them in a bag at Aldis for a much better price, they were small but that did not matter to me. I have often wondered about growing them, but have not seen any trees for sale. Apples do grow well in North Alabama and we have a couple of great apple orchards where we can go and pick our own apples or buy them already picked.

I would not mind smaller apples in the least. The ones in the grocery stores here are huge and I can only eat half at a time. I usually cut them up and share 1 apple with both of my kids. They are my favorite variety, but I can't buy them as often as I would like to.

To be honest, I'm not sure if I've ever eaten Honeycrisp apples. Reading your posts made me want to try them! Apples in Poland aren't expensive a all, so I hope I'll be able to buy them for a reasonable price:)

Not sure if this would work, but it works on most trees. Did this with a orange and a lemon tree once... awesome lemon oranges grew. Get the red apple and the green apple trees while saplings, cut the saplings in half, then tape the top parts onto the opposite tree they will grow into the tree that produces your honey crisp apples.

Claudine, they are a very crisp and sweet apple and I think you would really enjoy them. I don't think I have found a single person who has not lived them once they bit into one.

I'll definitely try them. I hope they're available in stores in my area. I love apples, because they make the perfect snack:) Thank you for recommendation!
