Hi From New Jersey!

Hi all! I live in Central New Jersey. I live in a second floor apartment that has a balcony. The balcony only gets direct sun for maybe 2 to 3 hours in the morning. So I'm looking for the best flowers and plants that don't need a lot of direct sunlight to thrive. I want to enjoy my outdoor environment as much as I can. I'm also looking for the best plants to ward off mosquitos.

That's great, the hellebores will grow in sun as well, I've got a lot of them.

Grow Garlic and Basil to ward off mozzies, also Marigolds and anything lemony - like Lemon balm, lemon thyme or lemon verbena.
Lavender is another one they don`t much like, although it prefers some sunshine.

Thank you! I've been planning to buy some Marigolds and Lemon Grass so this is good confirmation that I'm on the right track. I love Basil so that'll be a good one to add.

Thank you all. I've decided I want to start with lemongrass, lavender, a tomato plant, a few herbs and a couple of flowers. We had a friend visit today who knows a lot about gardening and gave me some great tips. I'm sure I'll also be posting questions on here.
