Hi Everyone,
I am just south of Houston and have been "trying" to grow my own veggies for years. Some, I do VERY well with and some I d do not. We do great with peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelons, cantaloupes and such. I really struggle with corn, lettuce (better in the fall), carrots, potatoes, onions and such. I am finally seeing that I need to be planting in the middle of winter! Our asparagus plants never lost their tops this year it was so warm. I actually had to go and cut them back in order to get a harvest! Of course, now they are producing literally overnight so I am thrilled!
We are in Zone 9a BTW.
Cheers
Chris
