  • Pinus koraiensis – Korean pine
  • Pinus pinea – Mediterranean stone pine
  • Pinus pumila – Siberian dwarf pine
  • Pinus sibirica – Siberian pine
• New World
  • Pinus cembroides – Mexican pinyon
  • Pinus culminicola – Potosi pinyon
  • Pinus edulis – Two-needle piñon or Colorado pinyon (when grown in Colorado)
  • Pinus johannis – Johann's pinyon (includes P. discolor – Border pinyon)
  • Pinus monophylla – Single-leaf pinyon
  • Pinus orizabensis – Orizaba pinyon
  • Pinus quadrifolia – Parry pinyon

I buy pine nuts from the supermarket, but I've never thought about foraging them myself! They're often really expensive, so it sounds like a good way to do it. I guess a good alternative would be a small army of trained squirrels
