Garlic harvest time

We planted some hard kneck garlic last October in zone 5b and I was wondering when we should think about digging it.

This is my first time growing garlic, so any advice would be great. I'm in central Indiana.

You are still a bit away from harvest, I'd say two-three weeks.
When it's ready there will be far more brown on the leaves.
Where I lived in Cheshire, UK they said, "Plant on the shortest day, harvest on the longest."
It was crap, I too planted my garlic in October, & it was much better when I did.
Expect harvest 2nd week of June instead of fourth.
In the meantime, you can harvest the scapes, & saute them for a treat.

Thank you. I thought I was at least I a month away but I wasn't sure.

Looks like I will be picking raspberries at the same time I harvest my garlic.

Toddz, I grow softneck garlic so may be different but I harvest mine much like onions, i.e. when the tops fall over and brown I harvest. For me, I plant my sooftneck in fall and harvest now give or take a few days.

It looks to me like yours may still have a few weeks yet to grow.

Thank you. I figured that I have at least 2 or 3 weeks before they are ready. I read about letting the tops brown and fall over.

I am in zone 7 in TN I plant garlic Sept 15 in Indiana. You should plant garlic on or before Aug 30. Be careful not to plant bulbs upside down some people do that. Garlic plants need 15-15-15 fertilizer once a week Sept to Dec and April to June 7 in my garden.
