Western Canada? BC?

I guess it is a young boxelder maple.

Acer negundo is a species of maple native to North America. In Canada it is commonly known as Manitoba maple and occasionally as elf maple. Wikipedia

I spent a summer mining for gold out of a tourist trap just north of Watson Lake, which is a wide spot on the Al-Can hwy. Good times. Since BC was dry the northbound tourists would hit the Yukon border and buy beer and stuff, and by the time they pulled over for another 6 pack and gas at our place, they were discovering that the booze was rated in % not proof but it is the same number as in the States. We sold a lot of food and Coffee as a result.
