Almost everything is money motivated but I have no clue why there is so much stupid misinformation online. This morning I see an Advertisement that claims copper wire pulls energy from the air and makes plants grow better and faster than fertilizer. What the @#$% do LIERS get out of telling all these lies?????? Photos show copper wire wrapped around plant stakes like TV antennas to make vegetables and flowers grow better. How can people be so stupid to believer that.

There are many ADs to make new gardeners want to build raised beds. People spend 100s of dollars building 2 ft tall raised beds full of potting soil then they take pictures to show off what they built. This morning I see someone local post photos of there 10 raised bed zip zap placement all over the back yard and side yard and a large heaping pile 60 bags of potting soil to put in the beds.

Why do people think factory fertilizer that farmers use is cancer causing poison. People buy "Organic" 0-4-1 "Plant Food" 5 lb. bags for $20 each. When their plants are not growing they want help. If you tell new gardeners the truth they get mad. Bible says, There are none so blind as these that refuse to see. It has been 10+ years sense I checked the real price of Organic Plant Food. I buy from Farmers Co-op most 50 lb. bags are about $20 to $25 each they last me about 3 years. Each plant needs its own food.

Garden advertisements online show picture perfect plants in beautiful perfect straight rows with no weeds & no grass. Pictures never include plants that are not beautiful. Do people not know which plants have food value? Several different type GREENs makes a beautiful photo but greens are about 98% water and have very low food value.

OH...LOOK 1 of my fertilizer bags says, PLANT FOOD. LOL. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Well I won't lie, I am building 6 10' long raised beds in my yard. But that mostly just to make it easier to mow and weedeat around my garden. I have really crappy clay soil, so putting 18" of good compost in the raised bed on top gets the plants a nice big jumpstart.

Not sure why you'd want to fill them with bags though, thats nuts. I have a utility trailer and I go to a landscape supply place and buy a yard at a time (thats about all the weight my trailer can take).

Mine cost about $40 a piece

I will say that people buying organic fertilizer and spread the misbelief that non-organic fertilizer can do things like change your DNA or give you cancer really bothers me. Once the nutrients are in the plant, its the same. The plant doesn't know the difference. I think its crazy when people are like "why would you spread 10-10-10 on your garden after you put all that work in, you could have all organic!".

You can let your words do the talking by keeping us posted on your raised beds this year. We are looking forward to seeing how they turn out. Thanks for the post friend.

This is a political statement and it's misleading.

The seed of the plant has millions of microbes in it. These microbes spread out and report back to the plant (seed) about the soil and climate the seed has been planted into. Throughout the life of the plant these microbes feed off the sucrose the plant exudes from its roots. Many other soil microbes and fungi also feed off the exudates from the plant. The plant roots get their nutrients in a digestible form from the microbes.

Contrast that with mineral deposits made water soluble by immersion in hydrochloric acid. The NPK stuff is made 'chelated' so the plants can 'drink' it because the microbes want nothing to do with this artificial 'input'.

The plant and its microbes definitely know the difference and strongly favor the natural way. So does the soil.

Show us the proof (studies).

Yes. Also, I don't understand why someone would say that its "political".

We're talking about nutrients and microbes, here. Why would you go and make something like that political? Thats just silly.

I'm all for having a discussion about the benefits and drawbacks of organic vs manufactured fertilizer. But I have a difficult time taking someone seriously when they start out with a claim like that.

Also, having experimented with growing plants hydroponically in Masterblend fertilizer, I can tell you that there is no way that you could touch that amount of growth with organics. You can push a plant right up to its limit and then back off a hair and have it absorbing the maximum amount of nutrients possible while maintaining a perfectly ph balance water bath for the roots.

Now, you are probably wondering why I don't still grow hydroponically. It was fun. But there is a definite taste difference in the vegetables. I suspect it has to do with availability of trace minerals.

The sequoias trees of the Rockies have grown to a huge size and number. Can you explain that unlimited growth without using the words fungi or microbes.

That would be really difficult since there aren't any Sequoias in the Rocky mountains.

But if instead you wanted to talk about the ones in the Sierra Nevada's or on the west coast, we could discuss how they are generally found in a cloud forest which have a high degree of low level cloud cover and precipitation which a massive tree like that would need.

In all your words you have never used microbes or fungi once.

And in all of those words you didn't answer the question.

Instead, you just tried to make me look foolish, while screwing up your geography and suggesting that there are peer reviewed articles on youtube.

Plenty of peer reviewed articles on You Tube.

Which is just funny. Plenty of places for peer reviewed articles, but youtube definitely isn't one of them.

Happy to have a conversation with you when you drop the whole "I'm smarter than you and answering your questions with more questions" act.

And the soil? A tree in the same spot for 600 years? Wouldn't the soil be exhausted long ago?

All you have to do is try. If you're willing to research at all then try Zach Bush's soliloquy "this one thing can make you heal or die". or Rebecca Macklin "let your garden grow wild".
I am relying on these people for my facts. If you don't want their knowledge than we are getting nowhere.

Don't you mean you want to go unquestioned. The whole thread is begging for an argument and one that we had in another thread recently.

I don't think I am who you think I am. We've never talked before.

Zach Bush's

This guy?

He's trying to sell you on "A revolutionary 8-week health transformation learning journey and immersive community experience with Zach Bush, MD"

Yeah, I think I'll pass on the doctor who's website is trying to sell me on membership to his community and an 8 week course.

I am relying on these people for my facts.

You do understand what peer reviewed studies are, right?

Actual scientific studies done by Phds and published in a scientific journal for peer review.

Not youtube videos of some guy who is trying to sell you on his 8 week course and membership to his special club.

For example, I used hydroponics as an example. I have an interest in hydroponics, and did an entire garden a few years ago using Kratky style hydroponics.

If I were to discuss that and you not believe me about something, I could point you at some of the published works from Bernard Kratky.

eg - https://www.ishs.org/ishs-article/843_6

An article published by the International Society for Horticulture Science for peer review.
