My small lawn is now, after all the frost and snow, showing brown patches, muddy patches and looks bad. What is the best thing to do? Should I drop some grass seed on the bald patches and just leave it at that?
The first thing you need to do is get small hand rake and rough up the brown patches down to the dirt. Then you can put some seed down and lay a thin layer of mulch or straw over it to keep it from drying out. You can also try putting a down a product called patchmaster it has the seed and mulch all together. I have used this on a few occasions and it works really well.
