Corrugated metal raised beds

I wonder how you guys avoid making a snug home for slugs between the edge of the bed and the soil, or even under the edging ? I don't have raised beds as such, but whenever I have put a bit of edging in to stop earth spilling onto path or lawn this soon becomes a problem. On the other hand I know where to look for the occasional mass slaughter :}
