I'd like to grow good sized corn on the cob on the veg plot. Would mulching around the plants help. Although I have used feed pellets, the plants seems a bit yellow green and the ears are a bit small?

Corn is a heavy feeder. The yellow green would indicate to me possibly insufficient nitrogen in your soil and that can also translate into small undersized ears.

What type of mulch are you thinking of?

Yes mulch helps but in the case of corn, it needs nutrient boosts after it gets up a few inches and again before tasseling. A rich compost mulch applied a couple of times during the growth cycle would likely help achieve your objectives.

OK. That sounds a good idea. Our weather is not quite Texan in little old England but people often get good results with corn. Thanks for your help.
