I friend gave me a few bags of FRESH Chicken Manure with Straw & Wood Shavings. I've heard using such directly on plants in the Summer will burn them bc it's simply "Too Hot". I know I should compost it for a year, but is it ok to sparingly spread it on the garden & flower beds this time of year... February, NE Ohio?

I don't know when you plan on planting your garden but if you dig the manure in now I doubt if it will still be too hot come mid April early March. Rain should take care of it expecially if you also apply molasses.
