By the book.

Someone, I can't remember who, recently spoke of 'Doing things by the book'. My experience of gardening is that there are many books (Just look in the charity shops, almost as many as cook books) and that they all vary, There are very few hard and fast rules and many viable alternatives in most cases.

'Be considerate to root systems when you have them above ground' might be one, can you think of any others?
