Black bugs in plant soil

Hello everyone
I was watering my plants and a bug crawled out of the soil, it was black and it looked exactly like a beetle are they harmful to my plants if so what can i use to kill them? Thanks

There are thousands of bugs,until you can identify anything as a pest,treat is a friend.

Everything has a place in the scheme of things.

VW is not black .. all the ones I`ve seen are brown with snouts :eek:
Excuse my colour blindness ;) The body does have elements of tan, a bit like Barney the border terrier :ROFLMAO:
