Hi,

I'm thinking about planting a beech hedge later this year using bare root , the advice is to cover it over winter I think? Is there a temperature this is essential at and how many years will i need to do this for?

Thanks,

Luke

I would assume that by covering it they mean to cover the roots with mulch or a few inches of leaf mold in order to keep the roots from freezing. Once you mulch the soil with 2-3 inches of mulch you can refresh it the next year with a bit more because the leaf mold or mulch will breakdown over time and help enrich the soil.
