Good day,

My friend had started growing an avocado from seed over 7 months ago. It was first grown in water in a window sill. Recently, about 4 weeks ago, I decided that I would put it in soil. I did so in a soil mix said friend has (I don't know what mix but they have an avocado more than a year old thriving in the same mix). I put it in the soil and by the end of the week the plant had brown spots coming out from the middle of the leaves.

Does anyone know what could be the issue?

The leaves started to get even more brown and they started to crisp up too as time went on. So my friend suggested we put it back in water since it seemed to be thriving there. I did as such and the leaves became less crisp and the browning slowed down. Then said friend asked me to repot it because they noticed the seed (which was not submerged) was decomposing.

So back in the pot it went. It is overall less crisp but still looks sad.

Is there any advice you can give on how to help this plant? Does anyone know what browning in the middle of the leaves means?
