There was a May frost which destroyed many of the flowers. Only a few fruit were produced. The fruits shown are not fully ripe. It appears a frost stimulates them and the fruit falls to the ground.

Such a delicious fruit. I know I discussed them in another thread not that long ago, but at risk of repeating myself I will say again that I wish Pawpaw (Asimina triloba) was more widely available in markets. The fruit is easily damaged, but with fast shipping, protective packaging (perhaps something like a paper-pulp egg carton), and effective marketing, I feel such an enterprise would be a resounding success.
