What to plant in my parterre?

My parterre is almost hedged now, hopefully joining up in another year or two. I would love to plant some tallish flowers in the triangle shapes as I have seen this in gardening magazines and it seems to be very traditional treatment of a parterre. Would any one have any ideas please?:)
