This cashew tree gave us joy for well over 20 years. The gentle sound of the fruits dropping, the squirrels and birds making it their home was something that was a daily affair. The tree yielded during February - May. . We relished the juice and wine that we made from the fruits. The nuts had a great demand too.

Little did we know that beneath the soil termites were busy eating up the tree. It was too late when we noticed it.

Here is a video clip - an obituary.

If you find the above video clip time consuming here is one where the birds joined in the mourning

Sorry about your loss of the cashew tree, and I enjoyed your videos very much! It is sad to know that a tree will just die like that. I love cashew nuts, but didn't know you can make juice out of them. I think there is such a thing as cashew milk, but not very sure.

It is the cashew apple that is used to make juice and wine.

Just a few yards from where the tree died a sapling is growing.

I'm really sorry to hear about that @grouie :( I enjoyed seeing it in your video though, it was such a beautiful tree and it looked like it was a real haven for so many creatures. Have you had it removed now? And is there anything you can do about the termites? Perhaps a pet anteater would help!

Now I keep a vigil. Our gardener was supposed to do it. We have a chemical that takes care of these termites - white ants.
