Yesterday was such a beautiful day that we decided to have a stroll around Alderley Edge - it's an area of land owned and maintained by the National Trust.

Couldn't have picked a more perfect day for it!

Looks like someone had been busy pulling up the ragwort! Worried about horses I guess? But the path wouldn't be accessible to horses, so I don't know really. Maybe they just love weeding

Lovely shots @Becky :)

It's illegal to let Ragwort set seed in the UK. Hope they come back and burn it, horses can't taste it dry, that's when it kills them if it gets into a hay crop.

Does look a nice place for a walk.
Ragwort affects all grazing stock, not just horses, cattle are just as susceptible possibly more so. As zigs says, worst thing anyone can do is pull it and leave it where animals can reach it. Should be controlled in/around grazing and fields used for producing hay/silage.

Thanks Becky. I only came across this forum by accident but glad I did, hope to get find some help especially for my veggie garden - had a difficult couple of years with cold springs followed by periods of drought then deluge. Have only been able to grow potatoes (Charlottes have never failed for me in my raised beds) and a few pathetic leeks – good thing I like soup!
