In a couple of months it will be pumpkin harvesting time. What do you use pumpkin for? I know about pie and soup, but are there any other creative ways you eat pumpkin?

Pumpkin Juice. Nutritious and cheap.
http://www.durgan.org/URL/?TLUOH 21 September 2014 Pumpkin Juice
One 25 pound pumpkin was made into 21 liters of juice. The pumpkin was cut into small pieces, covered with water and cooked until soft, beat into a slurry and strained through a food mill. The juice was placed in liter jars and pressure canned at 15 PSI for 15 minutes for storage.A temperature sensor was placed in one jar to insure the inside temperature got to 121C.The temperature senors were received recently.

On this batch I was practicing with my new temperature sensor as an experiment.

Cut in small chunks, roasted with spicy sausage and greens.
Or mashed with butter.
Roasted with a smear of marmalade on top.
Also handy for dogs if they get an upset stomach and diarrhea; it absorbs liquid in the intestines.

I have already read a thread for pumpkin and I had voiced out my desire to taste a pumpkin pie. I have been reading about pumpkin pies especially during Halloween when pumpkin is in the peak of its popularity. But I didn't know then that it can be eaten like the pumpkin pie. I really thought that pumpkin was only for decoration.

Are you able tk buy canned pumpkin? I use this to make pumpkin bread because I don't have enough garden to grow them.

Pumpkin and spice latte! So many ideas in this thread that just makes me drooling! I love pumpkin pie and pumpkin latte at harvest time of the year. They smell so good and such a treat!

Oh you have to try pumpkin pie if you have never had it before. It is amazing and spicy good. Put a huge spoonful of whip cream on top and it is the perfect comfort food. Do they sell canned pumpkin where you live? You can make your own at home.

If Corzhens can't get pumpkin in the Philippines we can send her some. :)
Mind you, sweet potato pie is very similar; I actually prefer it to pumpkin pie.

Whoa, that tickles me pink. Thanks very much for the thought but I would appreciate if you would just post your pumpkin pies this coming Halloween. if you mean to say that sweet potato is like pumpkin then probably I now know the taste somehow. I have a relative who bakes sweet potato tart and a snack food that looks like a pie. Maybe it has the same taste.

I am one of the few people in this world that hates sweet potatoes, and I especially can't stand them with the combination of marshmallows. I will stick to pumpkin pies any day. I currently make pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, and pumpkin chocolate cookies, but would love to experiment with some savory dishes involving pumpkin.
