I tried to pit the updated pictures side by side to compare but coiuldnt figure it out. So I will just post them here. These pics were taken today July 30 2017. Previous pictures in the other post were taken March and April. Every time I think they ate not doing good I bring up the old pictures.

They are doing fine.
Many modern rootstocks are dwarfing, which cuts the vigour of the tree, but means they mature earlier, and so fruit much earlier.
A friend has dwarf apple trees which are 4-5ft tall, yet regularly give him over 100 apples per year, each.
