Unwelcome diners!

I recently bought a beautiful hibiscus which I have in a pot. Yesterday, a branch was totally bare of leaves. Today, there are 3 bare branches, all in the same area. The leaves are nowhere to be found.

I looked for whatever might be the culprit, but did not find anything. Last year, to my amazement, I found 2 snails dining in my pots. Whatever is now there, it has also eaten my basil and parsley.

It would help if pictures were posted to see the damage. Is your hibiscus tall? Are there deer around? Rabbits? Depending on the height of the grazing, it can help narrow down what might be taking the leaves.
