Thought I'd share with you all some photos of a simple dig-up and transplant project I worked on last year for a neighbor of mine. It was so straight forward. Here are some before and after shots. Has anyone got any other experiences with transplanting on a larger scale?

Wow, great job, ShinobiSol! Your neighbor has a really nice lawn now:) It looks so neat and tidy! How long did it take you to do it?

Oooh that is nice and tidy. I've seen people do it before but it just boggles my mind that it rolls out like carpet haha.

Wow, that's really beautiful! I wish we could do that to my yard. We moved into a newly constructed home about 2 years ago, and while the house is nicely constructed, the builder doesn't know anything about lawns. He just threw some seed on it and covered it with straw. Needless to say, it's mostly weeds and bare patches. But we have over an acre, so doing something like that is way out of our price range. The neighbor next door had someone come out last fall and put down good soil, then seed and it really looks nice, but it cost him about $6,000 and his yard is about 1/2 the size of ours.

I wouldn't mind doing it ourselves but we're still looking at a considerable amount of money, that we just don't have right now. I tried putting seed down the first year we were here, but the dirt is so bad, it didn't really do much. Oh well, one more thing to dream and plan.
