I have one less ground hog as of today, I was pulling some weeds this afternoon and one was hanging around and not even running, he did a foot stomp thing when I kicked dirt at him and went back to digging under my trailer with no fear of people.
A bit later there was nothing but a stain on the ground. Sort of a now you see it, now you don't thing. Noise or no noise that one had to go.
TSC isn't good for special orders, and seasonal items are going away now.
I'll keep an eye out when I'm out and about in other areas for smaller containers. How much does it take to kill off a half dozen ground hogs?
I did get one last week using the trap, I screwed a corn cob smeared with peanut butter to the floor of the trap with another one dangling from above. The next day I had caught one of the smaller ground hogs.
The tomatoes are starting to correct themselves in the cooler temperatures and about half of the plants are putting on huge amounts of new growth and are spilling over the top of their cages and closing off the 4ft wide isles between the cages. The tomatoes that have been put on that newer growth area ll larger, roughy fist size or so but still pumpkin shaped with the deep ridges in the sides. Yet those out front seem to be shutting down after a short growth spurt. Those plants are only making smaller, sort of large cherry sized tomatoes, like the smaller tomatoes that I was getting of the early clusters out back.
I also picked up a truck load of sculpted concrete blocks which I may use to make permanent raised boxes out front. I'm thinking that being connected to the ground below they'll be easier to keep watered properly with no drainage issues. I have all winter to think about it though.
