I am wondering if this (the large variegated leaf) is a potato plant as I dumped a bunch of potatoes in the pile late last year. The vine produces flowers, but the flowers fall off without producing any kind of fruit.

Looks more like something in the marrow family, zucchini? You could be getting male flowers if they have longish stalks.

I looked up pictures of zucchini and they do look similar but the growth pattern seems to be different. This grows very much like a watermelon with very long vines.

Or maybe not. Maybe this will help, I don't grow any kind of that stuff, too much mildew. If you zoom in you can see what each leaf is.

Yes Pepper, it does look like some kind of squash. I'll see if it ever fruits!

Thank you.

if it has grown from seed it may not be exactly true to type. Another wait and see.

Looks like Pepper has the same variety of squash you do.
It's not my pic, I should have mentioned that. I got it off the net just for a picture to compare squash to the o.p's pic. I didn't grow any squash this year and I am kind of regretting that now.
