Beans emerging - photos below.
Two things to remember about beans -
1. Leaves in the sun and roots in the shade. So heavy mulching is essential.
2. Beans like the irrigation on their leaves. Always spray the leaves in hot weather and when they are fruiting.

He was a Tasmanian and it's possible that Kennebec spuds there can grow to 500 grams from a tiny seed spud.
....or they hold a biggest spud competition at the Bernie Agricultural show. Like those big pumpkin competitions.
