A few weeks ago I planted an Alexandrina Magnolia tree in my backyard. I've been watering it 2 times a week (plan to slow down once it's been planted for a month), it receives full sun/partial sun depending on the hour, and has mulch and soil around it. It grew fine until a couple of days ago when I noticed brown/yellow spots on the petals. They looked almost withered/wrinkled, and I was worried it might be some kind of infection. I've plucked off most of the affected petals but I don't want to harm the tree any further. Can anyone help me identify what kind of infection/disease it has (if it does) and how I can treat it?

Welcome @greenconure11!

I have a magnolia very similar to yours and I just don't see anything that looks abnormal to me in yours. That looks to me like the normal bloom cycle prior to foliage emergence.

Hello friend, its important to feel the soil before and after waterings to asure the best water management. It takes a while before a new plant ajusts to the new environment. Only water when the soil is dry a then allow the top to dry well before watering again. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you! This is my first magnolia tree so I didn't expect the flowers to bloom and turn brown that quickly, but I'm relieved to hear that nothing looks weird.

I will make sure to check the soil. It's been dry for a while where I am, so I think I got carried away trying to ensure the tree got enough moisture/water. Thanks for your advice!
