Shrub ID please...

Hey folks, got a number of shrubs I'm trying to ID in a home I just moved to. This shrub is located in a couple of spots...

What do think it is?

Unique bark...

Small, dried up flowers I think...

Looks like a snake bark Maple...an Acer sp.
Are you sure these aren't leaves emerging?

I live in zone 4 in Canada! Definitely not leaves emerging! It has been in the 20s and low 30s consistently here until this week...

Pic has focused on the ground rather than the twig in your hand so I am still stuck...sorry
Cannot be a snake bark maple though as this would be showing seed keys rather than flowers.

Apparently this is a burning bush... sent pic to local garden centre...

In that case these are not dried up flowers but rather the seed capsules of Euonymus alatus.
Clear close up pics do make it so much easier.
It will be very special in the fall when the leaves colour up

Yes, I've heard that the colours are amazing...

So it makes sense, doesn't it? I checked the bark and it matches up pretty much.. and those capsules are present too....

Gonna give it a bit of a trim to neaten it up!
