Hi All

I recently relocated from my home town and decided to transplant my 5 year old coconut trees. Unfortunately they are not looking good but I haven’t lost hope just yet. I water them daily and tried to add plant supplements to help them settle and grow. Also sprayed them with insecticides and fungicides (neem oil) just to be safe. I realize it’s hard to diagnose from a few pictures but I’m looking for any guidance! Weather here is currently hot (high 30c) and dry. The trees are placed in a shaded part of the house and get direct sunlight for about two hours.

Many thanks.

Usif

Not enough sunlight. Probably not in a sufficient pot, as there is no photo with a pot visible. At 5 yrs old they should be to the ceiling with 8-10' fronds. They are growing very weakly due to not being provided with the conditions they require.

The fronds look dry and brown. I think they got too dry or lost too many roots in the transplant and they are dead. Watering every day is too much for a plant that isn’t growing vigorously in a perfect environment.

Thank you for the feedback. I added more pictures to show the plants pot. It’s 3x3x1.5 meters. Intentionally made it large given that we didn’t want to dig the ground. I suspect that the coconut trees roots got rotten before the transplant, and we had to trim them. My question is, is there hope? Is there I can do to revive them, they’re pretty special I got them during our honeymoon so they have a lot of sentimental value.

On another note, I have two smaller coconut trees as you see in the picture. I noticed the leaf tips turned brown. My question is, how do I diagnose the problem? It seems to be from what I’ve read (being a novice gardener) multiple things, ie overwatering, not watering enough, lack of nutritions, etc so I’m a bit confused and would appreciate helping diagnose the issue.

Very grateful for everyone’s input. Thank you 🙏🏼

The big ones are gone, the little ones are O.K.

They need significantly less water than you are giving them. A thorough soak twice a week should be fine. Do the planters have holes in the bottom to let out excess water? If not, you could have a real problem.
