I completely missed the competition but what a wonderful picture Sheal and a worthy winner of any competition; I could live in the building it being in such an idyllic position. England at its best. Well done and congratulations.

Thank you @Colin. It is a beautiful area and the building is derelict, so if you fancy renovation.....? And sorry, it's not England, it's the Isle of Man where I used too live.

Thanks Sheal for the update.

What a wonderful project it would make renovating the old building; it beats me how such buildings are allowed to fall into this sad condition; here in the UK we have such buildings with preservation orders on them some on the point of collapse but yet new owners are told what they can and cannot do even right down to choosing paint colours; home ownership used to mean the homeowner owned the home and had a say in it but now the homeowner buys the home whilst so many other people seem to have more rights as to what can be done with it; common sense is now rare and people need leading by the hand?

Looking at the picture I wonder if the building has a waterwheel to the rear; given the lay of the land there could be a stream in the dip?

It's unlikely very few properties apart from listed buildings would have a preservation order on the island, and there's quite a few in the same condition.

There isn't a stream there, in fact the property is on high ground very close to a ravine. There's a stream and reservoir about a mile away.
