I'm by no means an expert but I'm now having my first luck at getting one of these to survive. They like their soil pretty wet so overwatering isn't likely to be an issue in a well draining soil/pot and they seem to like medium light, I have mine 6 or so feet away from a west facing window. I'd also put it in a bit larger pot if you get it growing again or if you buy another one, it'll make it easier to keep the soil moist. It's just a somewhat finicky plant you may kill one or two of before you have success.
