What should I plant in this immense antique Kramer cast iron 19th century garden urn? It was a gift. I am a new member living in upstate New York. The urn is about 3 feet tall, but the planter itself is only 8 to 10” deep and about 20” wide. Because the garden urn is adjacent to our patio seating, the plants in it can not be too tall or too overwhelming. It’s big enough without adding a massive planting on top. Moreover, I live along a creek where deer are common and bold, so plants must be deer resistant.

If not against the site rules, I hope others will use this thread to post pics of their urns just as they look in their garden location. Tell us about your plantings and any fun facts about your urn.

Hello and welcome. I love your back yard and the water looks beautiful. I would plant a vine or something that will hang down the sides. Thanks for the post friend and keep us up-dated.
