The orchid plant can last for many years, the flower will last some time up to a month on some Cybidiums and on others they will last 3 or 4 months. The plant doesn't have a trunk, it grows Pseudobulbs that can have a woody look to it, but its just dyed up old growth, There not really hard to grow if you have the right lighting and humidity at least 65% in the area its growing in, They do need to have a bit cold before you bring them in for the winter, my 2 big ones stay out right up to the first frost or longer if its a light frost, this helps them set bud for spring blooms. This one seems to like to bloom in Dec. and the flowers should last until Christmas. My orchids seem to bloom better in the winter, This could be due to the room being in the upper 70s low 80s during the day and the mid 50s to low 60s at night. I'll post a picture of the base of the plant so you can see the pseudobulbs.

They are beautiful blooms! (y) I've got quite a few in bud at the moment, so I'm looking forward to seeing the flowers.

Beautiful orchid flowers! Your type of orchid is only available at the local Conservatory around here as I don't see them in the garden centers.

My son gave me an orchid plant two years ago, you know the one that they sell in grocery store, and I am anticipating for the flowers to bloom now. It has giving me two wonderful times of blooming already.

Never give up on it and one day you will get blooms, I have one that bloomed after 5 years and it was worth the wait.

Actually, I think it will bloom again very soon:D It already developed a new, long stem and there is something that looks like tiny buds on it:D

When I saw the picture of your orchids I missed our orchids in my home country that my mother had been taking care for several years already. How I wish I can see them soon if my vacation will push through this coming holiday season. Your orchids are already blooming and I am sure that it will bloom into beautiful flowers. And you said it right that when taking care of an orchid plants you should never give up of waiting for its flowers to bloom because when they do bloom lovely flowers it is always worth the wait.
