So far I've been very diligent in keeping other plants from growing over my pineapple. Yesterday I noticed the entire plant had a funny lean, at first I thought it was from the heavy winds of Hurricane Debby, but then I realized that the lean didn't make sense, since it was leaning against the direction of the winds, from the South.I've been trying to grow a pineapple for years, but every time I just forget about it and things overgrow the pineapple. However, last year I successfully kept all plants from overgrowing it and I protected it during the winter and I just saw a flower emerging.
I was so freakin' excitedAnd then I read this: https://www.thespruce.com/how-long-to-grow-pineapple-7109411#:~:text=Spring plantings mature to bloom,of up to 34 months.
Quote:
Spring plantings mature to bloom more reliably than pineapples planted in fall, but it still takes from 16 to 28 months for flowers to appear. Fruit development begins about six months after flowering and can take another six months for fruit to develop and ripen for a total growing time of up to 34 months.
SAY WTFI have to keep babying this thing for another 16 months before I get a freakin' pineapple
I don't even like fruit...I'm not sure I can do this

I think Squirrels are eating green Oranges. So far I've been very diligent in keeping other plants from growing over my pineapple. I took a closer look and the one side had been completely eaten outSo much of it was gone that this must have been either a raccoon or an Opossum.
All I could do was cut the top off and plant it and throw the remaining pineapple into the compost

I know that's true with my banana plants, but I don't know about pineapples. I'm keeping an eye on the one pineapple that fruited to see what happens. I took the half-eaten pineapple and cut the top off and planted it in a safer location, so far it's looking very healthy. Was at Wisley yesterday with family and there was a pineapple growing. I don't know if it is true, but my brother-in-law told me that when the plant has grown a fruit it goes 'Job done' and dies.
