Nature’s Silly String

Hi,

I have several of these bushes around the property. Today I discovered they are all covered with these small curly cue things (small piles throughout) that look like Tinkerbell got overzealous with mini cans of white silly string. The substance is very sticky and smears away into nothing.

I thought maybe it was carpenter bee frass because I found those today too (fun times!) but it’s way more than one little hole would create and it’s only on these bushes, including the one farthest out from the carpenter bee hole.

The pictures below are the same bush just zoomed in on different spots to hopefully give an idea of what I’m seeing. My descriptions did nothing for Google...lol.
