Found these out back growing on a vine. They were right on the tree line. I didn't see them last year must the just missed them.

The Muscadine Grape (Vitis rotundifolia) is a species of grape native to the southeastern United States and Mexico. This species and its close relatives (Vitis r. ssp. munsoniana and V. popenoei) compose the Subgenus Muscadinia, the sister group to all other Grapes (Vitis).
Technically, a Scuppernong Grape is one particular green-fruited cultivar of the Muscadine (Vitis rotundifolia 'Scuppernong'), named after the Scuppernong River in North Carolina. A 400 year-old vine of this cultivar known as the 'Mother Vine' still grows on nearby Roanoke Island. Often the name scuppernong is used more loosely to refer to any Muscadine grape, particularly ones with green skin.

It's often said, "all Scuppernongs are Muscadines, but not all Muscadines are Scuppernongs."
Regardless they are wonderful in jams/jellies and just as a terrific refreshing drink.
I've grown scuppernogs and other Muscadine grapes for years and totally enjoy them. They are virtually maintenance free and disease resistant.
