I have a few long over grown daylily beds.
I would like to divide them but time and weather not on my side for this project.

Should I divide them now or wait until early spring?

Also is using a weed trimmer to aggressive for cutting these back.

My plan if anything is to trim it all back mulch with some shredded leaves.

Daylilies (Hemerocallis spp. and hybrids) are very tough plants. You could probably divide them now with little ill effect. Still, unless there is a need to do so immediately, I would wait. Perhaps do one small patch now and leave the rest. Then see which flowers better next Summer.

The larger batch will get some splitting now. Im going to place then in a somewhat baron rough spot on the tree line. Cant hurt
