I've never seen a reference to using any of the creeping thymes for culinary purposes.

Creeping thyme (Thymus serpyllum) is actually both edible and ornamental! It's a versatile plant that's often used as a ground cover in gardens because of its beautiful, low-growing foliage and lovely flowers

So with all of the more developed culinary varieties available, is it worth eating?

Creeping thyme and regular thyme have slightly different flavors. While creeping thyme is still aromatic and flavorful, regular thyme (Thymus vulgaris) tends to be more potent and is often preferred in culinary applications due to its stronger, more pronounced taste.
