OMG!! I'm so glad we don't live in an area that has scorpions. But, a few years ago, I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, and stepped on something "squishy". I woke my husband up and told him I'd stepped on a snake - he didn't believe, but I made him turn on the lights and look. Sure enough, we found a baby copperhead! I'm so lucky that it didn't bite me, as I'm told that baby copperheads are actually more deadly than adults because they can't control the amount of venom they use.

Don't you just love mother nature - she gives us things like calla lilies and roses, but also things like scorpions and snakes!

Any critter that stings, bites, or makes you afraid doesn't hibernate. They just lay in wait . . . .
Yes Mother Nature gives us the callas and roses to compensate for cacti and fire ants. She needs to work a little harder on that compensation thing.

Galmal, you're really lucky that copperhead didn't bite you! A couple of months ago, a scorpion fell from the ceiling to my hip while I was in bed. I was lucky, too.

Marlingardener, I agree Mother Nature needs to work a little harder on that ;)

I am also glad that I do not live in an area that has scorpions or cooperheads. It would be nice if mothernature asked us first what the creepies are that we can do without. Spiders and mice go into the list of creepies that I can do without along with the snakes and scorpions.

Oh my goodness! You must have been so shocked when you saw that in your living room. If I ever found a scorpion in my home I think I would freak out a little bit but still remain calm. I wouldn't touch it with my bare hand since they do bite so my best bet is to wear gloves if I have to pick it up to remove it from my home.

Holy Cow! I don't know who in my house would scream louder if we found that guy roaming around! And I'll admit it: as a fellow Texan I just googled your location to see how far away from me those suckers may be!

I would be freaked out if I saw a scorpion. They just look evil and poised to strike.
I'm glad we don't have them around here. But we do have quite a few spider varieties in Florida.

Ooh, that is scary. I don't even know much about scorpions, but the look like something that could kill you so fast. What can you do to keep these from getting in?

DancingLady, we don't have scorpions, fortunately, but they don't kill--just make you wish you were dead. Their sting is very painful and the discomfort lasts for quite some time, depending on your sensitivity to it. From what I've been told, you really can't keep them from getting into your home. In scorpion prone areas, you just have to be vigilant.

ARG! I had a nightmare that I got stung by a scorpian the other night and then it chased me. Now, I've never been near a really scorpian and never want to be, but this just gave me the biggest case of heebie jeebies ever. How do you dispose of a scorpian?

Yikes, I'd be screaming and standing on the tables if I saw a scorpion running about! I'm glad I live in the wintry north where we have small insects of no consequence, except mosquitoes. Scorpions do look cool but I'd still be anxious if I knew they were nearby.
