Not sure of the specific cause of your problem, it does look like lack of moisture, but a couple of points about growing potatoes in containers.
That looks like a wicker container, if it isn't lined it will be losing a lot of water, and potatoes like the ground consistently well damp.
The tops of potatoes love a bit of sun, but the roots like it cool. When I am growing them in a container I always stand a bit of white board between the container and the sun to reflect the heat.

Containers tend to get hotter than the ground. Maybe move them to the shade
