Not completely certain, but it could be Gaultheria procumbens - we used to propagate a similar plant at the nursery. If it is that, it only likes acid soil.

If you look closely at the leaves in my photos, they are "serrated." I cannot tell in online photos of wintergreen if the leaves are serrated or not. Are gaultheria procumben leaves serrated??? Thanks! Please let me know.
It was quite a few years ago, but I seem to remember that some leaves were serrated, and some were not. I had a search myself and found this record of ''wintergreen'' under a different tag http://www.habitas.org.uk/priority/species.asp?item=4595 from Ireland.
