Grass Clippings as Mulch

So, I read about using grass clippings as mulch for my vegetable garden. Great Idea, but I have a concern:

I put Gypsum and a starter fertilizer down on the grass about 2 weeks ago. Nothing else. Is it safe for me to ue these clippings?

Yes it shouldn't hurt anything go ahead. Why did you put gypsum on the grass?

Gypsum was recommended by my local seed store. Grass is slowly dying in spots because of dog urine.
