Foxglove is an old English name. It is derived from the belief that foxes slipped their feet into the leaves of the plant to sneak up on prey.

named Digitalis here, which is the name generally, but we lived next to farmland in the UK that was used by many horses that could reach over our garden fence when the barbed wire was down..so would not have any because just 100 grams can kill them....Putting that aside ,they grow wild everywhere here where we reside in France and look beautiful for sure...

This is not a Foxglove (Digitalis). It is a hybrid Beard-tongue (Penstemon). It looks like Penstemon x 'Rubicundus' or a similar cultivar.

Digitalis is native to the Europe, northwestern Africa, and southwestern Asia. Penstemon is native to North America & Central America. Both genera are in the Plantain Family (Plantaginaceae), but they are quite distinct morphologically.
