I am interested in building a small residential raised bed garden.

I don't have a budget in mind yet. I like the general design of the picture below,
but would like advice on two things:

1. Adding screen to keep out harmful flying insects. How to prevent gaps around the
door? (yes I know that screens will mean manually pollinating the garden).

2. Adding a roof. Just add cross beams and staple on insect wire, or a solid roof to collect rainwater? What materials?
Will a plastic roof make the water toxic?

3. This will be in direct sun. How to add a simple, inexpensive and easy to retract / expand awning on the inside to block light as desired?

I don't have a truck, and delivery from Home Depot is expensive as heck. Ideas?
All these "moving company" and "junk pickup" guys seem both really shady and really expensive.

Completely out of the question to hire someone to build it. Northern VA, prices are sky high for any type of labor, even mowing lawn.

If you do that you will have no bees to polinate your crops. Insects have other predatory insects to keep them in check.

Is this the OP?
You want 'efficacy' - suitable for purpose.
