double knock our roses look terrible

3rd year, north texas , full sun

they looked awful last spring, summer , fall
after pruning 1/3 back last winter

what gives?

leaves were all bunched up and fuzzy. flowers were bunched up.

please explain "rose blight". Sorry I'm new to rose gardening and just planted three Double knockout bushes .

Rose Rosette, carried by a mite. Viral, no cure for infected plants. Plant removal after bagging, mites are on the plant not in the soil. Preventative measures are as for mites. This is all I know, there may be more to learn about it. I have not had it here yet but it is in our general area, mostly in the neighborhoods.

Well, technically the idea of heating a rose should be mentioned, but it is really something the big nurseries are into, and pathogens like black spot are the target as I recall. Many plants do not survive purification by heat, and I do not know much more than this idea that propagation stock is improved with these advanced methods. It is not something I could do at home.
